Goverment of England

  • The United Kingdom is both a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy. Today the monarch Queen Elizabeth II is head of state but elected officials hold true political leadership through Parliament. The house of commons is the main legislative body. It has 659 members, 529 of whom are from England. Parliament's upper chamber in the house of lords, which has 1,200 members. the chamber's chief legislation, which in practice simply delays it.
  • The government in England has a check and balance system.
  • England is repressive through National Health Services.
  • In the past the government was ran by kings only. Now it is ran by a parliament democracy and a constitutional monarchy. The major reasons for the change is because they didn't want a dictatorship.

England's culture

Many people claim no religion.

* Today Anglicans and others Christians make up the majority of the population.
* The Britons consider religion a private matter and fell it is impolite to ask about ones religious beliefs.

Economy in England


  • Currency in England is pounds, one British pound is 1.80 on American money.
  • Major exports include: manufacturing goods, fuels, chemicals, food, beverages, and tobacco. Major imports include manufacturing goods, machinery, fuels and food.
  • England produces most of UK industrial and farm products. England's ideal location on the busy north Atlantic shipping lanes and its many harbors have helped UK with trade.
  • Most of the money on things such as road contruction come from council taxes. Which are paid by local residents.

England's history


  • In 1154 Henry II becomes the first Plantagenet king. Later in 1603 king James VI if Scotland succeeds Queen Elizabeth to the throne uniting 2 countries. About 300 years later England joins the European union.
  • In the 1500's England was strongly catholic until Henry the eight changed his religion to Protestant so that he could divorce his wife's.
  • 54 b.c. was the year that Julius Caesar invaded England. in 1422 Henry the fifth dies and the disputes among his successors lead to the war of the roses. From 1914- 1918 world war 1 put the end to the era of peace and poverty.
  • 1837, Queen Victoria's reign begins and the British empire reaches the height of its power.
  • In 1992 the queen agrees to pay taxes for the first time. Also a large fire destroys the Windsor Castle.

England's geography


  • The coordinates to England is exactly 53 North 1 West.
  • England is in Europe and the region is United Kingdom. England is an island or rather part of an island.
  • It is located on the largest of several islands that make up the British Isles.
  • England is mostly flat with no major mountain.
  • The climate is temperate, with warm wet summers and cool wet winters. Weather varies from day to day and throughout the country as a whole. The West coast and mountainous areas receive the most rain; the East coast, particularly in the North, is colder and windier.
  • What is it like in the Southeast? The southeast is sunnier than the North with less rain and a climate approaching the Continental.
